1-day
Shimba hills is a national reserve located just 33 km from Mombasa. It is an area of coastal rainforests, a place with many rare plants and countless birds. Shimba hills are also known for their high concentration of elephants and the occurrence of the rare Sable antelope. We recommend the trip especially to tourists who are interested in one-day safari trip and do not want to spend time in a car on the way to the parks. As it is a rainforest, observing animals in lush vegetation is very interesting and unique.
Early in the morning you will set off for the Shimba Hills. Our driver will pick you up between 7:00 - 7:30. The departure depends on the current traffic situation and the location of your hotel. We will agree on the exact time when to pick you up and confirm it a day before the trip. On the way to the Shimba Hills you will go through villages where you will find wonderful views and see the way of life of the indigenous people. In the park, you will follow in the footsteps of the rare Sable antelopes which live only in this coastal tropical rainforest. These animals are worth seeing, as are the herds of large elephants, monkeys (guereza), giraffes, warthogs and buffaloes. You will walk to the beautiful Sheldrick Waterfall where you can swim or enjoy a cool high-pressure shower under the waterfall. Lunch can be enjoyed at Shimba Hills Lodge located in the middle of a tropical rainforest. This lodge is an amazing wooden tree house overlooking the watering hole for the animals. After lunch, you will head out to the park for the afternoon. Afterwards our driver will take you back to your hotel.

Kilimanjaro is an ice-covered mountain massif, formed by three, now inactive stratovolcanoes – Kibo (5,895 m), Mawenzi (5,149 m) and Shira (3,962 m). It is located in Tanzania and partly in Kenya. Uhuru, in Kibo’s crater, is the highest peak in Africa. The Maasai name of this mountain is Oldoinyo Oibor – White mountain, Swahili name is Kilima Njaro – Shining mountain. Since 1973, Mount Kilimanjaro has been part of the Kilimanjaro National Park, which was declared a UNESCO monument in 1987.
The Lemosho route on the west is considered the best choice. The success rate of reaching the top is up to 95%. The number of tourists is significantly smaller here than, for example, on the Marangu route. It also offers enough time to acclimatise, increasing your chances of success.
The route starts at a lower altitude, you will progress through the rainforest and above it will connect with the Machame route.
